Daughter of Claude Alacoque and Philiberte Lamyn. Margaret Mary was born July 22, 1647. Died Oct. 17, 1690. She was Canonized in 1920 by Pope Benedict XV. After receiving a vision of Christ fresh from the scourging, she joined the Order of Visitation at Paray-le-Monial. From the time she was twenty, she experienced visions of Christ. Our Lord informed her that she was His chosen instrument to spread devotion to his Sacred Heart. He instructed her in a devotion that was to become known as the Nine Fridays and the Holy hour and asked that a feast of the Sacred Heart be established.
